I love the pulpiness of the Barsoom series. What I don't quite get is the moving away from an established character, like John Carter, and throw in these other less interesting characters. Granted Carter shows up and he normally does but why go to the trouble. When discussing pulp just go with what works. Take your hero, John Carter, and let him drive the stories.
Anyway this is Book 6. Half way through the series. What will I do when I am finished? God I hope the movie doesn't stink...
