The Fray's sophomore effort worked for me. Some experimenting but for the most part an album with alot of similarity to their first (why mess with something that works?). I think new bands should give their fans what they want and then by their third album they can start to experiment and "grow" as a band. In this respect they can grow with their core audience. That is why I think U2 has always worked. At first they stayed pretty consistent but as they aged they branched out which worked for me because I didn't want the same sound and then hopefully with a newer sound they can pick up some newer listeners (?)
